My ideal desk- super super rough. One side with a raised monitor, maybe a laptop dock, flanked with book shelves and desks underneath. The main feature would be a recessed draft unit that you can lift and prop at various angles- which would remain under the monitor/television.
The other side would be a dedicated video editing suite, with a television monitor raised, and two Mac computer monitors with an underslung tower and a nook for manuals. I’d probably make allowances on both sides for speaker systems, whatever, but yeah. This would be the last desk I’d ever need.
Is there anything so tired and unqualified as the assertion of the “fact” that “you’re entitled to your own opinion?”
Because you aren’t. This is why. I am calling it the Muppet Theory:
Just because you can flap your face, just because your mouth is moving, does not mean there isn’t a hand stuck up your ass.
In other words- just because you CAN make a statement does not preclude your ENTITLEMENT to make a statement. This is the biggest error people make with the First Amendment. You are entitled to freely say whatever you want, but that doesn’t mean other forces are not entitled to generate consequences as a result. It is a law meant to prevent the government from muzzling a perspective that might be counter to its agenda or policies, not a law that entitles people to their opinions. The First Amendment is not called the “protect the right to be a moron” amendment. You may be capable of it, but it’s not an inalienable protected right. “I’m sorry, I’m just ignorant so you have to let me do and say what I want” said no one ever.
Because you can say shit doesn’t mean it’s not still shit. Because you can issue mouth sounds that in no way resemble language does not mean that’s a valid perspective you’ve adopted simply because you are capable of making those mouth sounds. Truth is not something that everyone can just take a piece of and modify to their own convenience, which is actually completely counter the idea of a uniformity of experience. There is a difference between expressing an opinion and advocating for your beliefs, in that your beliefs should represent what you do and say every day.
So if you have nothing to show for your opinion, you do not have an opinion. You have a collection of mouth words strung together, no more or less significant. You are entitled to make mouth sounds. Enjoy.

Benedict Cumberbatch has revealed that he and co-star Martin Freeman have signed up for a fourth series of the BBC1 detective drama.
“We’ve agreed to two more series but I’m probably going to get into trouble for saying that,” said Cumberbatch at the South Bank Show Awards this afternoon.
